How to delete a Fandom account

Log in to Fandom and go to Special:CloseMyAccount to close your account across all wikis. You can log back in within 30 days to undo it. Closing doesn't remove your posts and edits, so delete content first if you want it gone.

Step by step

  1. 1

Sign in to the Fandom account you want to close.

  2. 2

Delete content first, if you want

Closing the account doesn't remove your posts, comments or edits. Remove what you can yourself before you close it.

  3. 3

    Hand over any bureaucrat role

If you're a bureaucrat on any wiki, Fandom advises promoting another user to bureaucrat before you leave.

  4. 4

    Open Special:CloseMyAccount

While logged in, go to the Special:CloseMyAccount page on any Fandom wiki.

  5. 5

    Confirm closing

Follow the prompts. Closing disables your account across the whole Fandom network, on all wikis.

Watch out for

  • Closing is reversible for 30 days. Log in during that time to undo it. After that it's permanent.
  • Your posts, comments and edits are not removed by closing.
  • The username isn't freed up. Names from permanently disabled accounts can't be reused.
  • Closing is not the same as deleting your data. Only the right to be forgotten route goes further, and only in certain regions.

Other ways to do it

  1. 1

Use the right to be forgotten

Fandom's help pages say it doesn't remove your account from its database unless you use its Right To Be Forgotten feature, which is available to users in California and the European Economic Area (excluding the United Kingdom).

What stays out there

Closing your Fandom account stops you using it. Public posts and edits can stay, and anything tied to your username may already be indexed by search engines or copied by people-search sites. Old forum handles often link back to a real name or email.

Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them.

Frequently asked

Can I undo closing my Fandom account?

Yes, by logging back in within 30 days. After that the closure is permanent.

Does closing remove my edits and comments?

No. Delete content yourself before closing if you want it gone.

Can I reuse my username after closing?

No. Usernames of permanently disabled accounts aren't released.
