Step by step
- 1
Cancel any paid plan first
Badoo's terms say deleting your account or the app doesn't cancel your subscription. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, cancel it there.
- 2
Open your profile settings in the app
In the Badoo app, go to Profile, then Settings (the gear icon), then Account.
- 3
Tap Delete account
The Delete account option sits at the bottom of the Account screen. Follow the prompts, which can include your password and a verification step.
- 4
Wait out or skip the 28-day window
Badoo says you have 28 days from deletion to get the account back by contacting support. To skip that window, submit a Data Erasure Request to Badoo's support team. Badoo says that can take up to 30 days to complete.
Watch out for
- Deleting the app doesn't delete the account, and neither one cancels a subscription.
- The account can be restored for 28 days after deletion. Almost all profile data is deleted after that, according to Badoo's privacy policy.
- Badoo keeps some data longer. Its privacy policy lists geocoordinates, email, external IDs, phone number, gender, city, birthday and name as kept for six years after deletion or erasure.
- A blocked profile leaves some basic account data behind so Badoo can enforce the block.
- To get a copy of your data first, Badoo says to contact chat support and ask to 'Request data'.
Other ways to do it
- 1
On the website
Go to Profile, then the gear icon, then Delete account at the bottom of the page. If the option is missing, your email address may not be confirmed yet. Confirm it and try again.
- 2
If the steps fail
Badoo support can delete the account after verifying your identity. Use the Badoo Support Center (support.badoo.com).
- 3
If you only want a break
Badoo's help center describes a Hide account setting that keeps your profile hidden without deleting it.
What stays out there
Closing an account stops Badoo from holding new data about you. It doesn't reach copies that other companies already hold: people-search sites, data brokers and old search results can keep what they gathered earlier, including a public profile they scraped.
With a dating profile, the common leftovers are photos and a username that were scraped or reposted, and a phone number that ended up in people-search listings.
Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them, and keeps watching for relistings. Run a free scan to see what's out there.
