Serus is a privacy company with paid tools to find and remove your personal data. This guide shows the free way to do it yourself.

Select your profile photo > Settings

In a web browser, click your profile photo and select Settings.

  2. 2

    Open Delete your Flickr account

Under the "Accounts & Subscription" tab, select Delete your Flickr account under "Account".

  3. 3

    Read the messages

Read the important messages and select OK-NEXT.

  4. 4

Flickr asks for your password to confirm.

  5. 5

Watch out for

  • All your photos and account content are deleted and Flickr can't recover them. Download what you want to keep first.
  • Public images from deleted accounts may still appear in third-party search engines such as Google.
  • Menu names can differ slightly between app versions.

Other ways to do it

  1. 1

    Flickr app (iOS and Android)

From your profile, tap the three-dot menu and scroll down to Delete account. Read the messages and tap Continue to login, enter your password, tap "Yes, I fully understand...", then DELETE MY ACCOUNT.

  2. 2

    Can't log in

Flickr has an account verification process for people who can't log in to delete the account. It links to it from the same help article.

What stays out there

The Flickr article itself warns that public photos can still show in search engines after you delete. Cached copies, scraped profiles on people-search sites and anything others saved stay too.

Deleting an account stops new data at that one company. It doesn't touch copies that data brokers and people-search sites already hold, or old search results. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them. See how Serus protects you.
