Serus is a privacy company with paid tools to find and remove your personal data. This guide shows the free way to do it yourself.
Step by step
- 1
Back up your data
Zoho warns that data can't be recovered once an organization is deleted. Export what you want to keep from each Zoho app you use.
- 2
Cancel paid subscriptions
If you have an active Zoho Mail subscription, cancel it before closing. Free plan users can skip this.
- 3
Super Administrators: remove users and domains
In the Zoho Mail Admin Console, delete every user except yourself under Users, then delete each domain under Domains. Zoho asks you to re-authenticate each time.
- 4
Super Administrators: delete the organization
In the Admin Console, go to Organization and select Delete Organization. Pick All Zoho services if you want to close the account. Zoho Mail alone only deletes the email data and leaves your user accounts active in other Zoho services.
- 5
Open Close Account
Log in to Zoho Accounts and enter your password if asked. In the left pane click Settings, then open the Close Account section.
- 6
Confirm with your password
Click Close Organization, enter your password and click Confirm Password. Add your feedback, click Close Account, and enter your password once more. When it's accepted, the account is closed.
Watch out for
- Closing a Zoho account ends access to every Zoho app, Mail and CRM included.
- Zoho says data can't be recovered once an organization is deleted.
- Deleting an organization with Zoho Mail alone leaves your accounts in other Zoho services active.
- Super Administrators can't close the account until subscriptions are cancelled and the domains and organization are deleted.
- Zoho asks you to re-authenticate with your MFA method, or your password if you have no MFA, for every organization deletion.

What stays out there
Closing the account stops new data collection at that one company. It doesn't touch copies that data brokers and people-search sites already hold, such as an email address, a name or a phone number that was scraped, bought or leaked earlier.
Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them from the sites that hold them, including people-search sites where you live.
