Step by step

  1. 1

    Decide between delete and deactivate

Quora's help article says deletion is not reversible once it's complete. If you're unsure, deactivating, editing your privacy settings or deleting single answers and posts are the alternatives.

  2. 2

Set a password if you signed up with Google or Facebook

Deletion asks for your password. If you signed up through Google or Facebook, click the Change Password link near the top of the page to create one first.

  3. 3

    Delete from your privacy settings

Open your privacy settings, choose to delete your account and confirm with your password.

  4. 4

Stay logged out for 14 days

Your account is deactivated immediately. If you log in within the next 14 days, the deletion is cancelled. After that, your content and profile are permanently deleted and personal data tied to the account is removed from Quora's databases.

Watch out for

  • Logging in during the 14 days cancels the deletion, so don't open the app or website.
  • Deleting your account doesn't remove links or data hosted by other people, such as content they republished.
  • Deletion needs a password. Google and Facebook sign-ups have to create one first.
  • If you lost access to the account, Quora's Help Center is the place to ask. Use the official article under Sources.

What stays out there

Deleting your Quora account removes your profile and content from Quora. Quora says it doesn't remove links or data hosted by others, and a profile that a search engine or people-search site already copied can stay up after the original is gone.

Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them from the sites and services that hold them, including people-search sites where you live. See how Serus works.
