Serus is a privacy company with paid tools to find and remove your personal data. This guide shows the free way to do it yourself.
Step by step
- 1
Sort out LINE Pay and Premium first
If you have a LINE Pay account, delete it before your LINE account. If you are an LYP Premium (Japan) or LINE Premium (Taiwan and Thailand) member, cancel the membership in advance.
- 2
Open LINE on your main device
LINE says you can only follow these steps on your main device, typically your smartphone.
- 3
Open Account
Tap the Home tab, then the settings icon, then Account.
- 4
Tap Delete account
Tap Delete account at the bottom of the screen, then Next.
- 5
Accept the warnings and delete
After reading and agreeing to the warnings, tap Delete account, then Delete.
Watch out for
- Deleting wipes all data, including purchase history, friends, groups, chat history and data in apps and services such as LINE Games.
- A deleted account can't be restored or transferred, and you can't log in on a sub device afterward.
- Only deleting or uninstalling the LINE app will not delete your account.
- LINE Pay accounts must be deleted before the LINE account.

Other ways to do it
- 1
Can't log in: Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand
If you can't log in, LINE can delete the account for you if you send two documents through its Inquiry Form: a document verifying your identity with a name matching the phone contract, and a document from your mobile provider for the number registered to the account. LINE can't help if you can't provide both.
- 2
Can't log in: other countries without a registered phone number
LINE can delete the account if you can confirm the email address registered to it and the Apple ID or Google account you linked when you created it, via its Inquiry Form. If you can't use those, LINE says it is unable to delete the account.
What stays out there
Deleting your LINE account removes your data at LINE. Your phone number and name can still be listed on people-search sites and in marketing databases that got them from other sources.
Deleting an account stops new data at that one company. It doesn't touch copies that data brokers and people-search sites already hold, or old search results. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them. See how Serus protects you.
