Lazada scams: how to spot fake Lazada job texts and prize messages
Quick answer
Messages that claim to be from Lazada and offer jobs, prizes or refunds are scams. Lazada says it doesn't recruit by SMS, WhatsApp or Telegram, and won't send you to third-party sites. Don't click or pay. Check your orders in the official Lazada app, and report the message to ScamShield.

How it works
Scammers pretend to be Lazada, a large online marketplace, to get your money or your bank logins. Lazada is the brand they borrow, not the scammer. Alerts from officials in Singapore and the Philippines describe a few scripts.
- Fake job offers. In 2022, Singapore police warned about spoofed SMSes that appeared to come from e-commerce marketplaces and offered easy "affiliate marketing" jobs. Victims were sent to a fake site, asked to register, and then told to pay money into personal bank accounts. Police said Lazada does not recruit through SMS or chat apps, and never directs you to a third-party site or asks for personal details to sign up for jobs.
- Fake staff and prize texts. Lazada Philippines has warned about people posing as Lazada employees or officials in texts and chats. Lazada's guidance is to use only its app, website and official channels.
- Off-platform payment from sellers. Lazada's Singapore safety guidance says to complete payment on the platform and report sellers who ask you to pay elsewhere.
- Fake fraud-team calls or messages. Scammers claiming to be a marketplace or bank fraud team ask for an OTP or push you to call a hotline. Check the transaction in the official app or call the number on the company's website.

What to do
- 1
Don't click, reply or pay
Delete the message. Lazada says it doesn't recruit through SMS, WhatsApp or Telegram.
- 2
Check in the official app
Open the Lazada app or type the website address yourself to check orders, vouchers and messages. Don't use links from texts.
- 3
If you paid, call your bank right away
Use the number on your card or in your bank's own app. Say it was a scam and ask them to stop or recall the transfer.
- 4
If you shared an OTP or password, secure your accounts
Change the password for Lazada and any account that uses it, turn on extra verification and watch your statements. Tell your bank about card details you gave.
- 5
Keep evidence
Save the message, number, website address and payment receipts for your report.

Check if your details are exposed with Serus
Scammers find your number and address on data brokers and people-search sites. Serus removes them.
Why you got it
Fake Lazada messages are sent to long lists of phone numbers, and some scammers pick people because their details are already out there. Data brokers sell names and numbers, and breaches leak them. Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them, and alerts you when your data shows up in a breach, so fewer scammers can reach you. See our guide on data brokers.
